Troop 457 uses an online tool called TroopTrack to manage our calendar of events, track our Scout's advancement progress, and facilitate communication. In this topic, we'll introduce you to the basic functionality you'll use in the application.

Advancement is an important part of the Scouting program which recognizes Scouts for demonstrating their knowledge and skills in topics that will enable them to be prepared for life. In this topic, we'll explore the different types of advancement, how their earned, and how our Scouts are recognized.

About Lesson

In addition to a Scout Uniform and Handbook, Scouts should also acquire some additional supplies to be prepared for meetings and to retain your own records.  This includes:

  • A three ring zipper binder
  • Three ring notepad or lose leaf paper for note taking
  • 9 Sleeve Card Protectors Binder Sheet for holding rank / merit badge award cards and completed Application for Merit Badge (“Blue”) cards
  • Pens / Pencils for taking notes
  • 2 feet of rope / paracord for practicing knots

Scouts will also need to obtain camping gear for Troop and Patrol events.  We’ll cover recommended camping gear in the Outdoor Activities module.
