About Course

Welcome to the Troop 457 New Member Boot Camp. Whether you’re brand new to Scouting, crossing over from a Cub Scout Pack, or transferring from another unit, this self-paced online course is designed to teach you and your family more about Scouting, our Troop, and how we operate.

Below, you’ll see a list of modules that contain lessons about an important, scouting subject. You can click on the name of the module to see the lessons within it. Each lesson is designed to be a short introduction to a specific topic and are not comprehensive. Sources of additional information are referenced at the end of each lesson.

Members can save their course progress by login to the site using the website or TroopTrack credentials provided when you joined.

All new members should start their Boot Camp by completing the TROOP 457 QUICK START module. The best way to experience the rest of this course is to complete it in sequence from start to finish, however feel free to jump around modules and lessons to get the information you need.

Course Content

TroopTrack Basics
Troop 457 uses an online tool called TroopTrack to manage our calendar of events, track our Scout's advancement progress, and facilitate communication. In this topic, we'll introduce you to the basic functionality you'll use in the application.

Advancement, Awards & Recognition
Advancement is an important part of the Scouting program which recognizes Scouts for demonstrating their knowledge and skills in topics that will enable them to be prepared for life. In this topic, we'll explore the different types of advancement, how their earned, and how our Scouts are recognized.
