About Lesson
Most of our Troop campouts are car camping (sometimes called “front-country camping” or “base camping”) where we are never far from where our cars are parked. When we car camp, Scouts may be sleeping in tents/hammocks, adirondacks, or cabins.
Car camping does not mean Scouts are sleeping in cars. Rather, car camping means that we load up all of our gear into cars, pull into the campsite, and set up camp. The beauty of car camping is the accessibility of our site. Since it is so close to our vehicle, thereβs no reason to skimp on βluxuryβ items that make the camping experience more enjoyable.
When we Car Camp, the Troop typically brings our Troop trailer which carries a number of shared supplies including:
- Canopies to eat under
- Propane-fuelled stoves/burners
- Patrol boxes containing utensils and cooking gear
- Troop wood tools
