Hello, Troop 457! Welcome back to another edition of ‘The Scoutmaster Minute.’ I’m Mr. Maloney, here with the latest updates, some important reminders, and of course, a warm welcome to our newest members. Let’s dive in.
Welcome
First off, I want to extend a hearty welcome to our newest members: Brooks C, Konner M. and their families. Brooks was recruited by Brennan and joined us this week after attending our General Advancement meeting. Konner found us online and joined us after attending this week’s game night. Brooks and Konner, we’re thrilled to have you start your Scouting journey with us. Welcome to Troop 457!
RSVP Deadlines
Now, let’s talk about some upcoming RSVP deadlines:
- The Moraine Trails Council First Aid Meet is happening on March 9th at Butler High School. It’s a day-long event where we get to compete in first aid skills against other local Troops. Please RSVP by February 23rd so we can ensure we have enough Scouts to field a team.
- Also, our Sled Packing adventure at Camp Merz in New York is set for March 15th. This unique experience is like a cross between backpacking and dog sledding, but you’ll be pulling your gear. We’ll dive deeper into sled packing at our February 27th meeting, but make sure to RSVP by February 29th to secure your spot.
Reminders
A couple of reminders:
- Unfortunately, we won’t be participating in this weekend’s Klondike Derby due to not being able to field a team.
- There are two spots open for next weekend’s ski trip. If you’re interested, please reach out to Mr. Lakes or myself. These spots are first-come-first-serve.
- And a huge thank you to everyone who participated in the Scout Sunday Service and Pancake Breakfast last Sunday. The ELC Congregation was full of praise for our Scouts, and they’re looking forward to celebrating our Troop’s 85th Anniversary with us next year.
Upcoming Activities
Looking ahead to next week’s activities:
Our next meeting on February 13th will focus on Lashings and working towards completing First Class Requirements 3 a-d. Note that this meeting will take place at the Community Wellness Building at Glade Run Lutheran Services due to an event at ELC This is different than what was communicated at the Troop meeting. Check TroopTrack for additional directions. A link to this meeting and all our events requiring an RSVP can be found in the show notes.
That wraps up this week’s ‘Scoutmaster Minute.’ Thanks for listening, everyone. Brooks and Konner, once again, welcome to the troop! To all our Scouts and their families, thank you for your continued dedication and support. Here’s to another great week of Scouting ahead. Until next time, this is Mr. Maloney, signing off. Keep on Scouting, and see you at Glade Run!
