Hello Troop 457, and Happy New Year! It’s Mr. Maloney, back with the first full episode of ‘The Troop 457 Scoutmaster Minute’ for 2024. I hope everyone had a wonderful holiday season. Let’s jump into what we’ve got lined up for the start of this exciting new year.
RSVP Reminders
First up, some important RSVP reminders:
- We’ve got a chess tournament happening at next week’s Troop meeting. Please RSVP by this Sunday, January 7, so we can prepare the bracket in advance. It’s going to be a great mix of strategy and fun!
- Remember, the deadline to RSVP for the ‘Do Nothing’ January campout is next Monday, January 8. Don’t miss out on this relaxing getaway.
- Also, RSVPs are now open for our February Ski Trip Campout. Be sure to register by January 15. We’re using the store on our Troop website for RSVPs to collect additional information for our reservations. Note: While unregistered adults and youth can enjoy our discounted rates, BSA rules do not permit them to camp with the Troop.
- Save the Date: Scout Sunday is coming up on February 4. We need volunteers for both participating in the service and helping with the Pancake Breakfast. Stay tuned for more details on TroopTrack.
Just a reminder: please RSVP for events, even if you or your Scout cannot attend. This greatly helps us in planning our activities more effectively.
This Week in the Troop
Before we close out today’s Scoutmaster’s Minute, let’s take a look at what’s happening in the Troop this week. During next Tuesday’s Troop Meeting, we’re wrapping up the Chess Merit Badge by hosting a Troop Chess Tournament. Remember to RSVP in TroopTrack by this Sunday. And if you have a chess set, please bring it along. It’s going to be a wonderful opportunity to sharpen your chess skills and enjoy some friendly competition.
That’s all for today’s episode. Thank you for tuning in, and here’s to a fantastic year ahead with Troop 457. Until next time, this is Mr. Maloney, signing off. Stay curious, stay courageous, and happy Scouting!
