Hello Troop 457! This is Ian, your Assistant Senior Patrol Leader, stepping in for Mr. Maloney this week as he recovers from a head cold. Welcome to this week’s edition of ‘The Troop 457 Scoutmaster Minute.’ Let’s get right into the latest news and updates.
First off, huge congratulations to Orion for completing his Scoutmaster Conference for the Eagle Scout Rank. Orion is just one step away from this incredible achievement with only his Board of Review remaining. Fun fact: the Eagle Scout Board of Review is the only requirement that can be completed after turning 18. Orion: We’re all excited for you and will eagerly update everyone after your board review next year.
Attention all Scouts and Adults: Registration for our January ‘Do Nothing’ campout is in full swing! Although the official deadline is January 8, we’d love it if you could RSVP by the end of this week. This helps us gauge the number of people who plan to attend and ensure we have enough adults to comply with BSA rules. It’s going to be a great time to relax, do nothing, and bond with your fellow Scouts.
A reminder for the adults: anyone spending the night with the Troop must be registered with the Boy Scouts of America. If you’re interested, please follow the instructions linked in the show notes. This is an important step in ensuring the safety and integrity of our Scouting experiences.
Lastly, due to the Christmas holiday, there will be no meetings or activities next week. This means no Troop meeting. We encourage you to use this time to perform your daily good turn and enjoy quality time with family and friends.
As we approach the holiday season, let’s remember that this time of year embodies the principles of being helpful, friendly, courteous, and kind. Let’s carry these values into our celebrations, spreading joy and goodwill to those around us. Scouting teaches us to make the world a better place, and what better time to practice this than during the holiday season.
That’s all for today’s ‘Scoutmaster Minute.’ I’m Ian, wishing Mr. Maloney a speedy recovery, and wishing all of you a very happy and safe holiday season. Keep the Scout spirit alive in your hearts, and until next time, stay adventurous and keep scouting!”
