Hello everyone and welcome back to ‘The Troop 457 Scoutmaster Minute.’ I’m Mr. Maloney, here to bring you the latest and greatest from our Troop. Let’s dive into this week’s updates and reminders.
CONGRATULATIONS
First off, a big round of applause for our Scouts who’ve achieved new ranks and merit badges:
- Congratulations to Zach for earning his Swimming Merit Badge.
- Kudos to Xander, who completed his Tenderfoot Board of Review last night.
- And a shout-out to Jack P., who successfully completed his Star Scout Board of Review. Fantastic work, Scouts!
RSVP DEADLINES & REMINDERS
Now, let’s talk about some important RSVP reminders:
- Today is the final day to RSVP for the Reindeer Race and Wreaths Across America service projects. Don’t miss out!
- RSVPs opened today for our January ‘Do Nothing’ Campout. The deadline is January 8, but an early RSVP helps us with planning. Adults, we need drivers for the campout, and if you’re registered, consider staying for the event. Please indicate in your RSVP if you can drive.
Looking ahead, we’ve updated our Troop calendar with all the planned events for 2024. Events without ‘TENTATIVE’ in their title have confirmed dates. You can RSVP for these anytime, but remember to do so by the deadline, typically two weeks before the event, to ensure effective planning for meals and transportation. Late registrations might not always be accommodated.
A crucial reminder for adults: since last September, all adults staying overnight at camp must be registered with the BSA. You’ll find instructions for adult registration on the Troop website, and there’s a link in the show notes for your convenience.
THIS WEEK’S EVENTS
Looking at this week’s events, we have two service projects coming up on Saturday:
- The Reindeer Race, starting at 8:30 AM at the Masonic Hall on East Beaver Street in Zelienople.
- Wreaths Across America, beginning at Noon at Zelienople Cemetery.
Scouts volunteering should wear Class A uniforms. If you’re running in the Reindeer Race, feel free to wear your Class B uniform.
Don’t forget, next Tuesday we have our Monthly PLC, Patrol, and Parents Meetings. The PLC meeting starts at 6 PM for those in leadership positions. All other Scouts and adults are welcome to join the Patrol and Parents Meetings at 7 PM.
That wraps up this week’s ‘Scoutmaster Minute.’ Remember, every Scout plays a vital role in the success and spirit of our Troop. Keep up the great work, and let’s continue to live by the Scout Oath and Law in all we do. Until next time, this is Mr. Maloney, signing off. Happy Scouting!
