Important RSVP deadlines, changes to BSA camping policies, and another month of exciting activities!

Hello Troop 457!

There is a lot to talk about in this month's newsletter including upcoming events like the Porkypine and USAF Museum Campouts (RSVPs close March 17 and February 28 respectively). But before that we have our  Family Bowling Night this Friday starting at 6PM.

I don't know about you, but my bowling skills are questionable at best, but its still a fun game because a single bad bowl doesn't ruin your whole game. I think Earl Anthony (professional bowler and six-time Player of the Year) said it best:

“Bowling is a game of mistakes.
Generally, whoever makes the fewest comes out the best.”

Life is a little bit like bowling. We're going to make mistakes and do things wrong, but how we recover from that and learn from our mistakes helps us to succeed in life. That's what's so great about Scouting. We have the opportunity to learn new skills like leadership and first aid in a safe space where we can fail and learn from our mistakes. That way we can be successful when it really counts.

So the next time you're struggling with a Scout skill or feeling like you're not succeeding, think about bowling and how you can recover from your mistakes to be successful.

Yours in Scouting,

Mr. Maloney

Scoutmaster
